The Master Class of Earth
Once upon a yogi time, there was a bored little Eternal-You floating in the in-between worlds.
The Conversation with the Mentor Angels
“I’m bored,” you said to your Mentor Angels. “I want to go back to earth and strengthen my ability to love unconditionally.”
“Not a good idea. You’re not ready,” warned your blunt Capricorn Mentor Angel.
“Now hold on there,” challenged your optimistic Sagittarius Mentor Angel. “It’s a great idea but maybe not right now. Things are tough down there and they’re going to get tougher.”
“What’s really behind all this?” asked your sly old Scorpio Mentor Angel. “I’m not sure boredom is the right motivation for such a task.”
“Well, to tell you the truth,” you admitted, “I’ve been floating around up here, reflecting on all I’ve experienced over these last many lives and I think I’ve figured out why I’m not feeling so peaceful and equanimous. I finally get it! From here on out I’m going to choose understanding instead of judgment and I’ll choose compassion and loving kindness when I’m confronted with hate, fear, and meanness.”
“Oh really?” Your Capricorn Mentor Angel shot back incredulously.
“Yes. Really!” you retorted, a bit hurt at his lack of belief in the power of your new-found awareness.
Your suddenly nervous Sagittarius Mentor Angel needed a moment to gather her forces before enthusiastically declaring, “You can do this. I believe in you!”
Your sly old Scorpio Mentor Angel simply said, “Earth is in the middle of a Master Class on Compassion and Unconditional Love. There’s some real tough shit gonna be coming down…. Just because you’re aware of what you need to do doesn’t mean you can actually do it. To be honest, I’m not sure you’ve got the chops to handle the curriculum.”
“But how will I get the chops if I don’t try!” you implored relentlessly.
Returning to Earth
And so, at your urging, your Mentor Angels sent you back to earth for the sole purpose of testing your ability to meet:
- Judgment with understanding
- Hate, fear and meanness, with compassion and loving kindness
